Royal Sofia Tour is the only guided walking tour of Sofia that reveals the secrets of the golden decades of the city's history - the years of the Monarchy when Sofia became the city it is today. Art and history come together for an amazing experience. The tour is designed for the explorers who are always looking for knowledge outside of the guidebooks. We'll share with you the real story behind many iconic landmarks and show you the hidden gems that even the locals don't know about. The tour will show you the development of the city in the years after the Liberation of 1878 until 1944.
St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral
We'll meet in front of the symbol of Sofia - St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. We’ll visit the grave and the monument of the greatest Bulgarian writer - Ivan Vazov. Next, we'll stop at the Jewish memorial before checking the magical Russian church and the Military club. Our next stop will be the former Royal Palace, which now hosts a museum and a gallery. Not far from it is the National Theatre named after … Ivan Vazov. We’ll cross “the beating heart” of the city – the City garden to go to our next stop - the Bulgarian national bank. Nearby is the building of the most popular hotel in Sofia in the 1920’s - Imperial. The walking tour will end at St. Nedelya Cathedral, very close to metro station Serdica and Vitosha blvd.
Royal Tour of Sofia starts at the St. Alexander Nevsky cathedral - the nearest metro station is Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". You can reach the cathedral with the metro or with trolleybuses 1, 2 and 9.
